Documentation
Definition
Specifies that the price index is to be determined automatically.
Use
In automatically determining the price index, the system determines a material-specific price index for every material in the pool by dividing the material price at the end of the fiscal year by the material price of the previous year. An average price index weighted according to the material value is formed from these indices, which is then included in the LIFO valuation calculation.
If a price index has already been manually entered for this pool in the layer, this value is overwritten.
Please note that when the price index is determined automatically, it is not the price index of the fiscal year in the layer which is updated, but the cumulative price index. Thus, this does not tell you the price change compared to the previous year, but the price change compared to the base year.
Examples
Pool 1234 consists of materials A and B. The price index is to be automatically determined for 19991.
End of 1998 End of 1999
Stock Value Stock Value
Material A 100 1000 200 2200
Material B 700 3500 1100 6600
For 1999, the material-specific price index calculated for:
Material A (2200 : 200) : (1000 : 100) = 1.10
Material B (6600 : 1100) : (3500 : 700) = 1.20
For pool 1234, the following price index is calculated for 1999:
(2200 * 1.1 + 6600 * 1.2) : (2200 + 6600) = 1.175
Dependencies
The indicator is only relevant for valuation according to the index LIFO procedure.
