Documentation
Definition
Name of the target host, as displayed by the UNIX command "hostname", for example.
If load balancing is used for addressing, the host name of the message server of the SAP system must be specified here. This name is defined in the profile parameter 'rdisp/mshost' of the target system. If you have any other queries, contact your system administrator.
Host names can be specified as followed:
- Regular host names
- Host name in DNS format (if available)
- IP addresses
- SAP router names (in the format /H/.../S/.../H/.../S/... )
Notes
If the host name (for example hs0311) is entered as the target host when the RFC destination is defined, then this is saved internally in its associated IP address in the database table RFCDES (for administration of destinations). This action reduces the time needed to set up RFC connections, among other things. The target host name no longer needs to be transformed to its IP address when the connection is made.
Problems can occur if the IP addresses of the target hosts change. For this reason, the affected RFC destinations must be modified accordingly afterwards.
If the host name is entered as an SAP router name (/H/hs0311 instead of hs0311), the name of the target host is not transformed to its associated IP address. Instead, the target host is saved with this name in the database table RFCDES.
