Definition
The software component describes a set of software objects that can only be delivered together. A software component is released in successive versions with new functions. Each software component can be provided separately with patches.
Objects are assigned to a software component by assigning the package to which the object belongs. This enables objects from one software component to move to another software component after an upgrade.
