Documentation
Definition
Specifies the classification of warranty claims that serves to map different processing procedures in the back end. The warranty claim type also determines the screen layout and the default values for the organizational data.
Use
If you create a warranty claim manually, you first have to choose the warranty claim type.
Dependencies
For each warranty claim type, you define the following in Customizing for Warranty Claim Processing:
- Control parameters (procedures for output determination, pricing, revenue account determination, action control, document types, and partner functions)
- Screen layout
- Default values for organizational data
- Other parameters
Example
A post-crediting claim requires a different processing procedure from a pre-crediting claim. In a post-crediting claim, the warranty credit memo for the claimant is not created until an answer has been issued by the reimburser. In a pre-crediting claim, the warranty credit memo is created for the claimant before waiting for a reply from the reimburser. These different processing procedures are represented by different action controls and thus by different warranty claim types.
