Documentation
Definition
The field specifies whether a hierarchy should be possible for the object type, and what form this hierarchy could take.
Use
You can choose between a strict hierarchy (every element - except the first one - the hierarchy has exactly one predecessor) and a network (one element of the hierarchy can have several predecessors).
Cycles (an element of the hierarchy is directly or indirectly its own predecessor) are not possible.
