Definition
The Data Mapping and Conversion Tool (DMC) is a tool for converting and transforming data. It is used in different applications, such as profitability analysis in SAP Banking, or CRM. The 'application' concept was introduced to adapt the DMC according to different demands. For an application, you can determine which inbound processing (for example file import interface), which outbound processing, and which processing steps the user sees. You can also specify how the sender and recipient containers can be structured. Examples of this are the user-defined sender container, and BDOC inbound processing.
An application is uniquely identified by an abbreviation. An application is also normally configured by a development department at SAP.
