Definition
This attribute can be used to define how the contents of the table should be translated into other languages.
Normally a table is translated using a standard translation tool (SE63), which provides a unified layout for all tables. The following are provided in the standard translation screen per table entry
- the table key,
- the text in the selected source language and
- an input text line for the translation in the target language.
Isolated maintenance using this standard tool can be prone to errors in tables with very complex dependencies to other tables or in tables whose translations should or must only be in an object-specific context since the input cannot be checked against the object context. Specific translation tools are provided for such cases and the above-mentioned standard translation is not possible. These tools are a fixed component of the SAP software. Connection to your own special tools is not possible.
There are also a few tables
- whose contents are generated automatically with generation tools. The texts are generated here in all the languages required so that these tables need not be translated.
- which should be completely excluded from the translation although the table is formally language-dependent.
One of the following translation types is defined with this attribute:
- Translation with standard translation method
- Load table: text and translation are generated automatically
- Translation only possible with object-specific tools
- Table is language-dependent, but not translation-relevant
Use
- Maintenance of the translation type only makes sense for the group of language-dependent tables. A table is language-dependent if a field of type LANG is contained in the key.
The standard SAP translation is suggested as default. The customer should not change this manually.
