Definition
X.509 certificates are valid for a limited time (interval: minimum expiry date and maximum expiry date).
Before a certicate expires, a new certificate should be requested from a Certification Authority.
Use
If you want to lock a certificate before its validity period has expired so that it cannot be used to log on to the system, do this using the Certificate Lock Management tool.
Alternatively, you can set a requirement for a minimum expiry date here.
In this case, certificates for which the minimum expiry date is before the date that you set cannot be used for logon.
Dependencies
Example
If a certificate is valid for the period 01/13/2013 - 01/13/2015 and you want to lock it during this period, you can do this by setting a date after 01/13/2015, such as 01/14/2013.
If a new certificate is issued for this user, which is, for example, valid from 12/2/2013, this new certificate would be unaffected by the lock described above, as long as the minimum validity date is before (or identical to) the minimum validity date of the new certificate.
