If you set this flag, the field is displayed in the browser as a mandatory field with a red asterix.

Use

In order to make a distinction between UI and back end logic, only those mandatory fields are considered as having errors for which a back end check has also been implemented. It is not sufficient to select the field in the field group, for example to prevent saving, if the field is not checked. This means that all fields that have been checked as mandatory fields in a field group are recommended fields for input in the browser.
