Definition
Start of billing period to which open item refers.
Use
You can notify your business partner of the date using payment notifications, account statements, debit memos, or other correspondence.
The date serves as information in the document or account display.
For utilities and telecommunications companies, this date is also used for the sales/purchases tax determination as well as the posting date for manual posting. If the postings refer to a service period in which a change has occurred to the sales/purchases tax, the posting date is often not suitable. In such cases, you can specify this date. It is then used for the sales/purchases tax determination.
