Name of the variable whose value is to be assigned to the message characteristic or is to be used as a default value.

Dependencies

The variable must meet the following requirements:

• It must have been defined in one of the preceding process instructions and be valid for the PI sheet or the entire process order.
• Its data type must be identical to that of the message characteristic you have selected (for example, floating point number or alphanumeric character).

The variable value is treated as follows:

• For hidden characteristics, it is directly transferred to the process message.
• For input values, it is used as a default value.
