Definition

Second splitting step.

This second step is required if -

  • No target costs or quantities exist on the cost element or cost element group

This means that no tracing factor is available for apportionment (splitting).

  • Activity-independent target costs or quantities exist

In this case a portion of actual costs remains on the cost center that corresponds to the portion of activity-independent target costs (or quantity) to the total target costs (or quantity).

To continue comparing actual costs with target costs, the SAP System splits plan and target costs according to the same allocation bases.

If you have not defined any splitting rules, the costs are split based on the activity type equivalence numbers.

Use

To define splitting rules, you must first create a splitting layout. This contains the splitting rules for one or more cost centers.

In this layout you define assignments. Assignments are used to gather cost elements on a cost center. Each assignment also contains a splitting rule which determines the values for the tracing factor.

The rule consists of a method and a selection.

Example:

Method: Statistical key figure

Selection: Employees
