Documentation
Definition
The maximum number of programs running at the same time specifies how many conversion programs may run at a given time.
The actual value of the conversion programs running in parallel is also limited by some other factors (for example number of available background processes).
This information is used by the program which starts the scheduled batch jobs.
This setting is performed on the conversion package level.

Use
This parameter has a huge impact on the performance.
If the value is set too low the system resources will not be used fully (the conversion will run slower than it theoretically could).
If the value is too high then some resource bottlenecks (I/O, CPU) will come to life, which, in worst case scenario, can even make it impossible to finish the conversion successfully.
Value of this parameter has to be determined for each conversion package and hardware configuration separately.
