Definition
If this indicator is set, the related combination of a domain and a data element is excluded. This makes sense if you want to assign a domain to a determination object, but exclude a certain data element.
Example
You want to create a determination object GJAHR as the fiscal year that refers to the domain GJAHR. The data element TIJHR (year of repayment) does use the domain GJAHR; however fields that refer to this data element should not be suggested as source fields for the org. determination.
How to proceed:
- Create an entry with domain GJAHR and without a data element.
- Create another entry with domain GJAHR and data element TIJHR, and set the 'exclude' indicator for this entry.
Notes
- Rather than exclude combinations of domains and data elements that you do not want to use, you can also explicitly specify all combinations of domains and data elements that you want to use. However this means that any unknown data elements are not considered.
- Note the difference between the 'excluded' approach and the 'do not use' approach that is applied to other objects: A record that is flagged as 'exclude' is treated as if it had been deleted.
