Definition

A determination object is the abstract definition of the starting or end point of a determination path. Assignment of a determination object to one or more table fields is a technical prerequisite for the actual determination.

As a rule, determination objects have a direct reference to organizational units. To simplify matters, the determination object is often given the same name as as data element or domain of the referenced organizational unit.

Example

The determination object for the organizational unit 'company code' is called BUKRS.

Notes

  • You can think about a determination object as a type. When you assign for example the determination object BUKRS to a field CCODE that you want to use a source field for determination, you specify that the field CCODE contains values of type 'company code'.
  • In the context of non-transparent fields determination objects are used as well in order to describe (the components of) non-transparent fields.
