Documentation
Definition
Indicates the factor used to change the prices in the pool.
Use
The price index is used to calculate the index LIFO valuation and can be assigned both automatically and manually.
- If you define that the price index is to be determined automatically when you carry out LIFO valuation, the system writes the cumulative price index, i.e. the price change compared with the base year in this field.
- If you want to assign the price index manually, you have to enter a price index for each pool (not the cumulative price index but the price index for that particular year) before you carry out LIFO valuation. During LIFO valuation, the cumulative price index overwrites the manual entry.
Procedure
If you want to assign the price index manually, enter the price index for the year. Note that this price index is only taken into account if you define that you want to assign the price index manually when you carry out LIFO valuation.
Examples
At the end of the fiscal year 1991, you want to carry out LIFO valuation for pool 1234 according to the index LIFO procedure. The following annual data exists for the pool:
Pool 1234 price index
per year cumulative
base year 1988 1 1
1989 1.03 1.03
1990 1.05 1.0815 (=1.03 * 1.05)
You want to assign a price increase of 4% on the previous year. To do so, enter 1.04 in the Price index field. During LIFO valuation, the system overwrites your entry with the cumulative price index 1.1248 (=1.0815 * 1.04).
Dependencies
The field is only relevant to valuation according to the index LIFO procedure.
