Definition

Specifies the business function in which a business partner is assigned to an entity object(collateral object, collateral agreement or receivable). The partner functions may belong to individuals, institutions or establishments.

Use

  • Business partners may assume various functions with respect to the entities in Collateral Management. A partner function may also be of legal or natural significance such as the notary, administrator, utilizer and other beneficiaries. These functions drive various business processes in Collateral Management (CM). For example, the partner function Owner must be maintained for all collateral objects. Similarly, the partner function Collateral Giver for receivables.
  • For each partner function in Collateral Management, you must maintain the corresponding partner function in the implemented business partner system.

Dependencies

You define business partner functions for all entity objects in the Implementation Guide (IMG) activity Define Partner Functions.

To use partner functions, you must assign them to partner function sets. Further, you must assign a partner function set to each entity type in the Customizing of the respective entity types. These assignments together determine the allowed and required partner functions for an entity type.

Example

Some possible partner functions are:

  • Collateral obect - owner, collateral giver, favoring party and collateral taker
  • Collateral Agreement - collateral giver, collateral taker, guarantor, notary and broker.
