Definition

Key to identify the mapping context.

Use

The mapping context cumulates settings that are required for a specific transformation scenario.
Attributes are the basis for this mapping model.

  • You determine how target attributes are generated from source attributes (attribute mapping).
  • You enter the rules for the conversion of attribute values (Value mapping).
  • You can determine a standard value for attributes.
This value is always assigned if, in the mapping process, no unique attribute value has been determined.

Dependencies

The mapping context, which describes the rules for a data export from the SAP System and a data import into the SAP System, is assigned to an exchange profile.

You maintain the settings for the exchange profile in the activity control STEP processor.

Example

You create the mapping context MAP-1.
All the settings that control the import of material data from the system of an ancilliary industry (non SAP System) to the database of a car manufacturerer (SAP-System) are entered in this context.
