Definition

The clearing item ensures balances the balance sheet or income statement of a company affected by a cross-company posting.

The system determines the balance of each document and makes a posting to the clearing item.

You can only maintain clearing items for document types with a posting level greater than or equal to 2. These are the only document types which can be used for cross-company posting.

The following item types are recommended for clearing items:

• Elimination of IC payables and receivables: BS item
• Elimination of IC revenue and expense: IS item
• Elimination of investment income
• Appropriation of net income shown on the balance sheet: BS item
• Appropriation of net income shown after the income statement: IS item
• Consolidation of investments: BS item
