Definition

Key used to assign specific types of procurements and consumption to a category for single-level and multi-level material price determination.

  • Process categories for procurement are activities that usually lead to a goods receipt (e.g. purchase orders, production, subcontracting, goods transfers between plants).

    Activities that cannot be assigned to a specific process category for procurement (such as "Other goods receipts" with movement type 501), are assigned to the general process category "Procurement" by the system.

  • Process categories for consumption are activities that usually lead to a withdrawl, e.g. withdrawls for poduction orders or cost centers.

    Activities that cannot be assigned to a specific process category for consumption are assigned to the general process category "Consumption" by the system.

Use

Process categories are used when collecting valuation-relevant transactions for single-level and multi-level material price determination in order to determine how these valuation-relevant transactions should influence the price of the material.

Process categories are defined in the system. You can see them in Customizing for the component Actual Costing/Material Ledger.
