Definition

Basic rate of a business process or a cost center/activity type.

The basic rate is the preliminary price that is used to valuate activity and process consumption in the quantity structure for a period. This price must be held constant throughout the whole period. If there are any changes, all postings to production orders will have to be adjusted afterwards.

During multi-level price determination in Actual Costing, basic rates are used when calculating variances from the actual prices of the period.
