Definition

Describes the reason for replacing a material by another.

For supersession the system assigns a four-figure numerical code.

For inventory-managed manufacturer parts, this code describes exclusively the one-sided or conditional interchageability between two materials. This code specifies the basic conditions, the external circumstances or the prerequisites to be filled, under which an exchange can take place. The code has two figures, is alphanumeric and is assigned by the user when created.

Use

In the SAP system there are two causes preset for supersession, changes in design and improvements in quality. You can select these using F4.

You can define additional causes for replacing a material in Customizing.
