Definition

Select this indicator if the extension for a business partner or a business partner relationship is time dependent. If the extension has the Cardinality type as:

  • Single Instance, the extension is always time dependent. In the case of a:
    • Business partner, you can select the time dependency constraint to be either With Gaps or Without Gaps.
    • Business partner relationship, you cannot select the time dependency constraint. The extension inherits the time dependency of the parent.
  • Multiple Instance, the extension can be time dependent or time independent. In the case of both business partner and a business partner relationship, if you select the extension to be time dependent, you also have to select the time dependency constraint from the following options: With Gaps, Without Gaps or Time Validity. However, in case of a business partner relationship, the validity period of the extension can be only within the time validity of the parent.

The different time dependency constraints are as follows:

  • With Gaps - There can be a time gap between two records. For example, the first record is valid from 01/01/2004 to 31/05/2004 and the second record from 01/08/2004 to 28/02/2005. Here, there is a time gap from 01/06/2004 to 31/07/2004.
  • Without Gaps - There can be no time gaps between records. The records have to be continuous. For example, the first record is valid from 01/01/2004 to 31/05/2004 and the second record from 01/06/2004 to 28/02/2005. Here, the records are continuous and there is no time gap between the two records.
  • Time Validity - There can be only one record for a particular period. For example, from 01/01/2004 to 28/02/2005.
