Definition

Setting for masking payment card numbers and saving them in encrypted form.

Use

Protection from unauthorized use of payment cards.

Dependencies

  • If you choose to save payment card numbers in encrypted form, then you also have to identify those payment card types for which you want encryption to be active. In Customizing, choose Cross-Application Components -> Payment Cards -> Basic Settings -> Maintain Payment Card Type.
  • The system always stores payment card numbers in encrypted form in the business partner master record under the following conditions: the indicator is set for this in the Customizing activity mentioned above, and you are working in a CRM system, or you performed a migration of payment card data in the business partner master record in an ERP system. In these cases, you are not required to enter security settings in this table.
  • Any applications (such as the customer master record), which already allowed storing encrypted payment card numbers before this Customizing table was introduced, continue to function as before. You are not required to enter security settings in this table for them.
