URI stands for Universal Resource Identifier (see Internet Specification RFC 1630).
Various types of URIs are defined in the sysetem. These allow differentiation regarding content. They all have the same format.
A common example of URIs are homepage addresses (type HPG). Other examples are FTP addresses.
URIs up to 2048 characters can be saved in the system using BAPI interfaces. A maximum of 132 characters can be maintained online.
