Definition
A shipment type represent a particular processing form for a shipment.
Use
The shipment type defines fundamental control characteristics for shipment processing, for example:
- the number range for the allocation of the shipment number
- document specifications, such as completion type or control
- control specifications, such as output or text determination procedure
- defaults values, such a shipment types, service level, leg indicator, etc.
Procedure
You must enter a particular shipment type when you create a shipment.
Examples
Road transport:
- For a collective shipment, the shipment legs should be determined by
the system according to a certain rule.
- Individual shipment as preliminary leg for a sea shipment
Sea shipment:
Certain messages are needed for processing.
Rail shipment:
Certain texts are needed so that the rail consignment note can be printed in full.
Dependencies
A shipment is uniquely assigned to one certain shipment type.
