Definition
Requirements types are abbreviations and names used to describe a specific period, in which personnel requirements exist.
For example, you can define requirements types as:
- General requirement (always valid)
- Requirement on weekdays
- Requirement on Fridays
- Requirement on weekends (only valid on days defined as weekend days)
- Special requirements
This requirements type takes priority over all other types.
This allows you to set up extraordinary requirements types and personnel requirements, such as if you need twice as many employees to work on your enterprise's "open day", for example.
If you define a requirements record with a "blank" shift abbreviation for this requirements type, all requirements that have been defined for the same period are ignored by the system.
Standard settings
The SAP System contains a number of pre-defined requirements types, which can be used for the periods you require the most in your enterprise.
Under Define Requirements Types, you can set up your own types, which you can then use for particular business situations, regional factors, or seasonal trends, for example.
Use
The requirements types group together the requirements needed for a shift group or organizational unit.
Example
One shift group in your organizational unit only works at weekends. You assign this shift group the requirement type 'Weekend'.
Only this requirements type can now be used for shift planning.

Use
In the Override Requirement infotype (1040), use this field to identify a special type of staffing requirement called an exception. An exception overrides the normal staffing requirements that have been established. Exceptions are used when no staff are required because, for example, there is a public or religious holiday, and operations are shut down.
Your company may define numerous "exceptions" when you set up staffing requirements.
You cannot apply exceptions in Organization and Planning. Any type of maintenance must be performed in the Shift Planning module of PD.
