Definition
The retention period defines how long an object remains on the operational database. An object cannot be archived until this period has expired. The retention period consists of a number of periods and a period unit.
The object-specific retention period must be longer than or equal to the minimum retention period defined in the check table for the global control of archiving.
The retention period relates exclusively to calendar days. It is not based on posting or working days.
