Direct tax posting

Use

This indicator determines whether a tax on sales/purchases posting is to be considered as an automatic posting or a direct tax posting.

' ' = Automatic tax posting The tax on sales/purchases amount arises from the tax base amounts in the document that exist either as postings to G/L accounts or in down payment items.

You would not enter these tax items manually for an FB01 or MIRO posting, for example; instead, the system would create them automatically on simulation or posting.

The tax account would be determined automatically from the account determination.

'X' = Direct tax posting This is a pure tax on sales/purchases posting that does not arise from base amounts posted in the document. For example, this applies to import sales/purchases tax, invoices that concern only subsequent tax receivables, or pure technical transfers between different tax codes.

The system would not enter these tax items automatically for an FB01 or MIRO posting on simulation or posting, for example; instead you would have to enter them manually. Here you would have to enter the tax account manually.
