Documentation
Definition
If this indicator is selected, the value of the scrap is calculated during variance calculation and subtracted from the total variances. The costs for the operations that were carried out before the scrap was confirmed are then shown in a separate column.
Use
The user can specify a scrap quantity when entering the confirmation or reporting point backflush.
- If the scrap is calculated separately, the system valuates this quantity with the target costs for the operations that have already been carried out plus the corresponding portion of the overhead and the costs incurred through revaluation at actual activity prices. The target costs for valuation of the scrap are calculated according to the valuation variance for work in process and scrap. (See also: Valuation variant for scrap).
If no valulation variant for work in process and scrap has been defined, the target costs are calculated on the basis of the standard cost estimate for the material.
Scrap that occurs regularly is entered in the routing as operation scrap and is included in the standard cost estimate. The system therefore calculates the unplanned scrap by subtracting the planned scrap from the confirmed scrap. Only the value of the unplanned scrap is shown in variance calculation.
- If the system did not calculate any scrap, the costs of the scrap are interpreted as variances and reported as quantity variances.
The costs of the rework are interpreted in both cases as variances.
Procedure
Select the indicator for scrap if you want to have the scrap costs calculated separately.
Examples
Dependencies
If this indicator is selected, you must make sure that a cost estimate to be used for the calculation of target costs exists at the time the variances are calculated.
This function also requires that the actual costs are collected by operation.
To display the scrap variances, select the scrap variances indicator in the variance variant (see also: Define Variance Variants).
Using the explanation facility for scrap you can analyze which operation incurred scrap, the amount of the scrap, and the cost element.
