Definition

The background processing system distributes all data archiving jobs (write jobs, delete jobs, read jobs, and so on) to application servers in the specified server group.
Note that in the case of preprocessing, postprocessing and write jobs that are scheduled in archive administration (transaction SARA), the following applies: If an application server is included in the server group that runs on the database computer, these job types are scheduled on that application server.

Specifying a server group is optional. If you specify a name, this server group must be created to enable you to release a job. You can maintain server groups in transaction SM61.
