Definition

Each query sub-list (basic list, statistic, ranked list) can have its own page header. The page header consists of header lines and lines with column headers.
Column headers contain headers for fields occurring in the list. Each line definition in the list has one or two lines of column headers. Column headers generally apply to whole lines of a list, but you can modify them for each individual field.

Usually, column headers are set for all lines. With basic lists, you can use the Column field of the List Line Output Options screen to specify which lines of the basic list you want to have column headers.
To generate column headers for a list line, place the cursor on the appropriate lines in the Line structure area and select Edit -> Column header -> Insert line.
To delete the column headers for a list line, place the cursor on the line to be deleted in the column header area or on the line in the Line structure area and select Edit -> Column header -> Delete line. Since two lines of column headers can be assigned to a list line, two lines may be deleted from the column header area when you perform a delete operation.

The column headers for a line are formed from the column headers of the individual fields in the line. The column header for a field is placed in the same position as the field value. The column header for a field can be longer than the ouptut length of the field value. With non-numeric fields, column headers are left-justified; with numeric fields, they are right-justified.
The column header of a field can take up two lines. With statistics and ranked lists, the second line is used to output the reference unit, if the relevant field is a currency amount field or a quantity field.

To change the column header of a field, place the cursor on the appropriate header and select Edit -> Column header -> Maintain. You then see a dialog box where you can define your own header for the field. This header is used in the query whenever a column header is required for the field. So, if you use a field in the basic list and in a statistic, the modified header is used in both lists.
