Definition

Specify how to start the method with respect to a selection of elements in the monitoring tree.

  • For a single MTE: Mark this option for most analysis and auto-reaction methods. In this mode, the method is started with respect only to a monitoring tree element or alert.

    Example: A user marks several alerts in the alert browser and then activates the analysis method. The analysis method is started with respect only to alert upon which the cursor is positioned (or the first marked alert in the list, if the cursor has been moved). Other marked alerts are ignored.

  • For a table of MTEs: Mark this option for collection methods or other methods that can be started once for a whole collection of monitoring tree elements or alerts.

    Example: Several different monitoring attributes for host-system performance share a single data-collection method. Rather than starting the method separately for each monitoring attribute, the method can be started by the alert monitor once for all of the attributes. For such a method, choose the Table of MTEs.
