Procedure
Use these fields to control whether log messages can trigger alerts or not. Your options are the following:
- Do not change the pre-defined alert behavior. If a message with criticality "yellow" is reported to the log, then the alert monitor will trigger a yellow alert, in accordance with the message specifications.
- Filter messages to reduce the number of alerts that are triggered.. With this option, you can allow only messages that exceed a certain criticality (yellow or red) and a certain severity (0 unimportant to 255 very important) to trigger alerts. Messages that do not exceed your filter thresholds are only displayed. Note that the severity scale applies separately to each criticality. That is, you can set the filter for yellow alerts, 0 to 255, or red alerts, 0 to 255. Criticality "red" severity "0" is more important than criticality "yellow" severity "255".
- Never let a log message trigger an alert. In this case, messages are only displayed in the log. No alerts will be generated from this log attribute.
Examples
You wish to allow only messages with "red" criticality to trigger alerts. Choose the From value option and make the settings yellow and 255. Any message with criticality red will trigger an alert in the alert monitor. No message with criticality yellow will trigger an alert.
You wish to allow very important "yellow" messages and all "red" messages to trigger alerts. Choose the From value option and make the settings yellow and 150. Any message with criticality red will trigger an alert in the alert monitor. Any message with criticality yellow AND a severity of more than 150 will trigger an alert.
