Definition
The identification information required by the alert monitor to access a line or message in a log or trace external to the monitoring architecture. This identification information is used by the "read" function that monitored component makes available to the monitoring architecture. When a user of the alert monitor wishes to display the messages in the external log, then the alert monitor calls the read function, passes it this ID information, and receives in return the messages to be displayed.
Used for external log attributes only.
