Definition
Specifies how many message lines should be kept in a log attribute.
The influence of this limit depends upon the setting in ALKEEPLNTY. If oldest or newest messages are to be kept, then the log will grow to the limit of message lines that you specify here. If additional messages are reported into the log attribute, then excess messages are deleted.
Example: If you specify 100 in this field and request that the newest messages should be kept, then your message log will always contain the 100 most recent messages reported into the message log.
Note that the amount of shared memory available to the monitoring architecture may also limit the size of a message log. If the message log remains smaller than the limit that you specify here, then increase the amount of shared memory available to the monitoring architecture. Do this on the instance in which the log monitoring attribute is held.
This option applies only to log attributes in which the monitoring architecture provides the log management functionality. This option does not apply to log attributes that refer to the SAP system log or to external logs.
