Documentation
Definition
The field catalog serves as a template for creating an Archive Information Structure. An info structure always refers to a field catalog. The field catalog defines the fields from which the data fields can be selected for the info structure.
The following properties are also defined in the field catalog:
- Assignment to an Archiving Object
Each field catalog (and therefore each info structure) belongs to exactly one archiving object. There can be more than one field catalog for one archiving object. - Key Fields
The key fields defined in the field catalog are always incoporated into the archive information structure. - The Role of the Archive File and the Data Objects' Offset
The field catalog defines whether the archive file and the data objects' offset appear in the key or in the data area of the info structure. - The Names, Data Types and Sources for the Target Fields
The names of the info structure target fields (key- and data fields) are defined in the field catalog. The data type of a target field is derived from the datatype of the accompanying reference field. There can be one or more source fields for one target field.
