Definition

Change Code indicates the transaction status of the individual record or Explanation Code Segment being transmitted.

A change code can effect three types of changes:

R - Replace the existing record
D - Delete the existing record
N - Establish a new record

Use

Used to convey the type of change impacted on a transaction. The CHG TEI is necessarily applied to each Explanation Code Segment.
