Documentation
Definition
A location or area within a storage system where collections and resources are stored during XML archiving sessions.
Use
In XML-Based Archiving archive stores are used to write data to a specific place in an actual storage system (WebDAV System or file system). You define the physical storage area in the XML DAS Administration by entering an initial path and the address of an existing storage system. When you synchronize the home paths from Customizing with the XML DAS, you can specify the archive store; the archive store can be viewed as a kind of alias for the physical system coordinates.
Usually home paths of archiving objects only reside in the same archive store if the different object types have the same residence times or if the archived data is to be stored in close proximity to each other for administrative reasons. Whether or not the same storage medium (for example the same CD, Volume, ...) is to be used if you are using one and the same archive store is ultimately decided by the physical storage system.
Dependencies
Example
The archive store FI_STORE could represent the directory \archive\production\fi, which can be reached via the file server \\archive_host.
The archive store FI_STORE is used by the administrator for XML archiving objects that archive accounting documents, for example.
