General
Identifies the IDoc. This is a required entry field.
Applications
No action is required.
IDoc interface
The IDoc number range is dependent on the client used. The IDoc number is defined using internal number assignment in the function module after the IDoc has been created.
EDI subsystem
The EDI subsystem must not fill DOCNUM while the IDoc is being entered. Instead, this number is assigned by SAP. For outound IDocs the EDI subsystem must however save DOCNUM for later status messages that are sent to the SAP system.
