Definition

Controls determination of the posting period in Accounting.

Use

The system determines the posting period from the key date of the accrual using the fiscal year variant. If the posting period found is locked, the indicator determines how the posting period is to be determined:

• If the indicator is set, the system automatically determines the next open posting period. If all periods of the fiscal year are closed, the system issues an error message.

  If you enter the posting date manually when posting (for example when reversing periodic accrual runs), the system will not automatically determine the next open posting period.

• If the indicator is not set, the system does not determine the next open posting period, but issues an error message instead.
