Definition
The loading bay category defines the preferred loading bay(s) of a means of transport for loading a material.
Use
Dependencies
You can specify a packing group under the plant data in the material master data for Vehicle Space Optimization.
You can assign a loading bay category to this packing group in Customizing activity Define Packing Groups.
If this link exists for a material to be loaded (material <-> packing group <-> loading pay category), the system checks during Vehicle Space Optimization whether the assigned means of transport possesses loading bays with the specified category. If so, the material is loaded with priority into the loading bays of this category. If more material is present than can be loaded into the loading bays of this category, the material is loaded into other loading bays, and an appropriate warning message is output in the log.
As soon as an assigned loading bay is specified for the packing group, this loading bay has priority over the loading bay category. The system first checks whether the assigned means of transport possesses a loading bay with this name.
Example
CO2 materials have to be transported in appropriate CO2 racks. To do so, you have to define a packing group (such as gas tanks) and assign it an appropriate laoding bay category (such as CO2).
