Definition
Specifies the Regulated Substances and Recyclability Certification (RSRC) recycling category from Daimler Chrysler. These categories are used in the automotive industry. The following categories are used:
Category Description Example
1 The part can be remanufactured Starter transmission
2 The part or material is recyclable if the infrastructure and technology is clearly defined and functioning Body sheet metal
3 The part or material is technically feasible if the technology exists but the infrastructure does not exist TPO or RIM fascias
4 The part or material can be technically recycled in the laboratory but no industrial or commercial process exist PP and glycolysis
5 The part or material has organic material that could be recovered for energy but cannot be recycled Burning of synthetic tires
6 The part or material contains inorganic material and no technology exists for recycling or energy recovery
