Definition
Specifies the type of declaration that was agreed upon with a customer.
Use
The declaration type determines the level of detail that is required for information supplied by the customer. It is taken into account, for example, when electronic requests are sent to the customer. The declaration type Simplified is used as a default.
Dependencies
You can define the available declaration types in Customizing for Product and REACH Compliance under Product Database -> Industry Specific -> Specify Declaration Types.

Use
Defines the default declaration type used for an import format. This declaration is used in the case that you do not have a special agreement with your business partner.
Dependencies
Example
You want to send a request to a supplier to provide compliance information for a part. The system checks, whether you have defined a special declaration type for your supplier. If not the system uses the default declaration type defined for the current import format.
