Definition

Determines whether or not the open quantity of the PO or scheduling agreement item is to be adjusted.

Use

If quantity differences should arise following a goods receipt (in connection with a return delivery for example), the open quantity of the item can be adjusted.

  • If you select this indicator, the open quantity (and hence the scheduled quantity) is reduced by the difference quantity
  • If you do not select the indicator, the open quantity of the item is not adjusted

Dependencies

Only if you have selected the Closing indicator can you also specify that the open quantity of the item is to be adjusted.

Example

You have received a shipping notification for 1,000 pc of a scheduling agreement item and subsequently posted a goods receipt (GR) of 750 pc.

In the quantity difference profile, the Close Shipping Notification/Inbound Delivery and Adjust Open Quantity of Item indicators have been selected.
Since the Close Shipping Notification/Inbound Delivery indicator has been selected, the shipping notification quantity of 1,000 pc is adjusted to the GR quantity of 750 pc and the schedule line quantity of 1,000 pc is only partially offset by a quantity of 750 pc.
Since the Adjust Open Quantity of Item indicator has been selected, the open quantity of the schedule line and thus the scheduled quantity are reduced by the difference quantity.

Result

Close Shipping Notification/Inbound Delivery
The inbound delivery is closed. Materials planning no longer reckons with a receipt amounting to the difference quantity of 250 pc, so that in the next (requirement) planning run new requirements are generated in the form of scheduling agreement delivery schedule lines for example.

Adjust Open Quantity of Item
Since the (open) scheduled quantity was reduced by the difference quantity, the latter will not be taken into account at the time the next SA release is created. This means that the difference quantity will not be transmitted to the vendor as an open quantity.
