Definition

Internal code that indicates the reason for an event (e.g. traffic jam as the reason for a delay).

External codes are user-defined and correspond to industry standard codes such as EDIFACT or ANSI X12. They have to be mapped to these internal codes, used by the Event Manager. This mapping is necessary for a unique identification of an event reason.

Examples

Traffic jam can be represented by 01234 in EDIFACT standard and by 0123 in ANSI X12 standard. As it is the same reason the Event Manager uses an unique code (e.g. TRJAM).
