Definition
If you do not have a unique reference ID, e.g. the same bill of loading for several carriers, you need the following information to uniquely identify the tracking ID:
- the identification of the organization that issued this tracking ID (e.g. provider code ID UPS for organization UPS)
- the code set that describes to which type of organization the issuer belongs. The identification of the issuer must be unique within this code set (e.g. the organization type parcel service).
