Definition

A percentage value to control the traffic light in output:

  • Green, yellow: The number of PRTs in the pool is greater than or equal to the number of individual capacities specified in the assigned work center. The percentage that was specified is the threshold value for selection of the corresponding traffic light.

  • Red: The number or percentage of PRTs in the pool falls short of the percentage value entered for the 'yellow' traffic light. There is a risk that more capacity will be scheduled than is available in terms of the number of PRTs. In short, the pool may be overscheduled.

Use

By assigning values accordingly, the user can create a kind of "hidden reserve" in the pool, in other words, a safety cushion that ensures shortfalls are avoided when PRTs drop out of the pool at short notice.

Example

Example data:

Green: 120%

Yellow: 100%

Red: 100%

Capacity in work center: 10

Case A

13 PRTs available <-> 130% => 'green' traffic light

There is no problem in this case, since more PRTs (13) are available than the capacity entered (10).

Case B

10 PRTs available <-> 100% => 'yellow' traffic light

Initially at least, there is no problem in this case, since the number of PRTs (10) available is equal to the capacity entered (10). However, a shortfall may well arise as the result of a PRT dropping out of the pool at short notice. For this reason, the traffic light is yellow, to draw attention to the situation. In this example, the yellow range (10 to 11) is the aforementioned "hidden reserve".

Case C

8 PRTs available <-> 80% => 'red' traffic light

The number of PRTs (8) is less than the capacity entered (10). This can lead to problems in production, since fewer PRTs are available than were scheduled.
