Definition

Controls the manner in which the length calculation determines the lengths for the various operations in routing or for the components in the bill of material (BOM).

Use

  • Routing: Taking the length constellation that is produced in the operation (output length) as its starting point, the system uses the relevant method to calculate which length constellation to use at the start of the operation (input lengths).
  • Bills of Material (BOMs): Taking the length constellation from the assigned operation (the input lengths from the operation) as its starting point, the system uses the relevant method to calculate which length constellation to use for the components concerned.

Dependencies

There are three different methods:

  • No entry: Pass on lengths
    With this method, the length constellation is not changed during an operation/for each component. Only the scrap per length is included.
  • 1: Full reels
    In this method, all lengths are summarized to the maximum production length, regardless of the output length constellation. The length calculation determines the number of full reels and the remaining reel. It is possible to make deletions in this production step.
  • 2: Summarize lengths
    In this method, all lengths up to the maximum production length are summarized in accordance with the output length constellation.
