Use

An IDoc type can be used for different "logical" messages. A message can be assigned to different IDoc types (m:n-relation).

The message is determined by the triple of message type (mandatory), variant, and message function (optional. These three fields belong to the key fields of the partner agreements to determine processing when, for example, orders are received. If the field 'message type' is empty (e.g. for a control record from release 2.1 where MESTYP does not yet exist), the IDoc interface transmits the value from STDMES (EDI message type).

If possible, the descriptions of the message types follow the corresponding EDI message types.

Example

The message ORDERS (= message type) identifies purchase orders (outbound) and sales orders (inbound).
